The shelter’s services are intended for anyone who has experienced or is threatened by domestic violence when staying at home is not safe. Domestic violence can be emotional, physical, sexual, economic, abuse, neglect, cultural, religious, or honor-related.
The shelter offers crisis assistance and support in dealing with experiences of domestic violence. The staff is trained to help and support adults and children who have experienced domestic violence. They also provide advice on legal issues and practical matters such as arranging housing. The shelter is intended as a short-term refuge, and the duration of the stay is always individual. The shelter is free of charge.

Domestic violence is a term which covers many different forms of violence. You are warmly welcomed if you feel any kind of threat from person in your close circle.
I do not live in the same household with the person who is threatening me. Am I still allowed to come to shelter?
Generally people seek help from the shelter, because they are living in the same household with the person using violence. Sometimes they are living alone but their partner has a key to their apartment and are able to access it anytime. If someone is trying to break into your apartment, please immediately contact the emergency services by calling 112. In other cases, you are able to consult the shelter and we will assist you in your case.
Am I able to bring children with me to the shelter?
Children are warmly welcome at the shelter with a parent. Also only occasional day-time visits Tto see a parent at the shelter are permitted. With the parent’s permission, we are happy to hear from the child as well, considering child’s age level. We see that it’s meaningful to hear the child’s perspective and experiences in a crisis situation. We are thus able to get a better overall assessment of the security of the family.
Shelter can assist you with taking care of children for a short period of time if the shelter’s situation allows it and based on one’s needs. Any guests excluding children caregivers and personal assistants must be met outside the shelter due to securing everyone’s privacy at theshelter.
Am I allowed to bring my pet there?
We do have three rooms where you are able to bring a pet. We prioritize them for pet owners. You are warmly welcomed with your dog, cat, rodent or reptile. If you need to leave your pet to the shelter when visiting outside, please negotiate first with the staff in case of longer period dog barking etc. During your period in the shelter, you will be responsible for your pet and unfortunately we are not able to assist you with the care of the pets.
Am I able to continue working/studying from the shelter?
You are able to continue your regular life from the shelter. Despite a crisis situation, it’s usually important for your own well-being to continue your daily routines, like working or studying. If needed, you can apply sick-leave from your organization.
Children’s schooling is necessary under the rights of compulsory education. If the distance between children’s school and the shelter is out of proportion, you can contact the shelter’s staff and we do our best with other authorities trying to provide schooling for your children.
Am I allowed to come to the shelter when I have taken intoxicants?
Shelter is short-time period housing and it’s common that we do have children here as clients. Therefore any misuse of any intoxicants is strictly prohibited and will be taken as a great misdemeanour. If you are experiencing an acute problem with substance abuse, but will be committed to stay clean during the time spent in shelter, you are very welcomed.
What do I need to bring with me?
Before leaving your apartment, we recommend packing for example any necessary medications you might have, phone, personal id-code for internet usage of bank account, keys (home, car), identification document and some spare clothes for yourself. If you do have children and are bringing them with you, please take spare clothes for them also, and possible school books and the most important toys. We do offer free hygienic products and we have different sizes of donated clothes in the shelter.
